Partial Differential Equations Playlist

Here are videos corresponding to content in Constanda's Solution Techniques for Partial Differential Equations, 2nd edition. These are being created for my new YouTube channel during Fall 2021. I'm alternating between several different subjects, so it may take time to finish this playlist.

If you're interested in learning more about solution methods for PDEs, send me a message, and I'll be sure to make more videos sooner rather than later!

Handwritten Notes - Fourier Series

These are the notes I took while making the videos. As more notes become available, I'll post them here.

The sections numbers listed are those from the Constanda PDE text, 2nd edition.

2.1 Full Fourier Series - Video Notes (pdf)Download
2.2 Fourier Sine Series - Video Notes (pdf)Download
2-3 Fourier Cosine Series - Video Notes (pdf)Download

Handwritten Notes - Sturm-Liouville Problems

There are the notes I took while making the videos.

The first two numbers refer to the second number in the text. The last number is associated with the order of the videos.

3.1.1 Introduction to Sturm-Liouville Problems - Background Regular S-L Problems (pdf)Download
3.1.2 Regular Sturm-Liouville Problems - Rayleigh Quotient, First Example (pdf)Download
3.1.3 Regular Sturm-Liouville Problems - Second Example (pdf)Download
3.1.4 Regular Sturm-Liouville Problems - Third Example (pdf)Download
3.1.5 Regular Sturm-Liouville Problems - Fourth Example, Featuring a Transcendental Equation (pdf)Download
3.1.6 Eigenfunction Expansion - Regular Sturm-Liouville Problems (pdf)Download
3.1.7 Eigenfunction Expansion Second Example - Regular Sturm-Liouville Problems (pdf)Download
3.2.1 Periodic Sturm-Liouville Problems and the Derivation of the Full Fourier Series Expansion (pdf)Download
3.2.2 Singular Sturm-Liouville Problems (pdf)Download

Handwritten Notes - Three Equations of Mathematical Physics

These are the notes taken during the videos.

In them, I derive the heat equation, Laplace equation, and
the wave equation, following the derivations in the Constanda text.

This material is covered in chapter 4 of the text.

The naming convention is the same as that for the previous sections.

4.1.1 Derivation of the Heat Equation with Initial and Boundary Conditions (pdf)Download
